Sustainability
We passionately believe in sustainability and that, as a responsible business, we should support and encourage the farming communities that supply us, the whole production process and everything contributing to it - whether it be the land, people, environment or technology.

Real business ethics, not just PR
It all begins with the countries that produce the tea leaf and green coffee bean, where Urban Espresso have chosen to work directly with the growers through the various Fairtrade cooperatives that pass on the know-how, which in turn help to manage and improve the cultivation process, purchasing the raw ingredient and rewarding the farmer with a fair price. This collaboration with the individual growers goes to strengthen our trading relationship which in turn goes to making for a better future for all involved.

Doing more to help
In addition to our strong ethical trading ties with our farmers, we believe that Urban Espresso, along with the support of our customers, can and should do a little more. That is why we have chosen to support and work directly with the Coffee Kids Charity, our donations helping them to positively improve the lives of many children and their families within some of the world's poorest coffee and tea producing countries.

Through our link with the Coffee Kids initiative we also help our customers with their corporate social responsibilities, through a donation programme linked to their purchases - all at no extra cost to themselves.

Environmental responsibility
We are also mindful of the fact that as a modern day business we must do all we can to ensure our impact on the environment is minimised – and not just by buying carbon credits to make ourselves feel better! Therefore we strive to monitor and make constant improvements to reduce any negative environmental impact that may be present throughout our entire business. Throughout our production process, and working with our suppliers, we are constantly reviewing methods and finding ways to reduce packaging where possible. We also strive to use green fuel and source products that are from a sustainable or recyclable source.  We actively work with all our clients to ensure good environmental practices - for example reducing waste and ensuring that our disposable cups go for composting or renewable fuel sources.

And it’s not just in the developing world where we seek to support sustainability; wherever possible in our retail operations we search out local suppliers. That way as well as providing our customers with the freshest of produce we both re-invest into the local community and reduce “food miles.”
